Masking Mandate Reminder

Masking Mandate Reminder
Posted on 09/17/2021

The  Secretary of Health is requiring that everyone five years of age and older wear a masks in public indoor settings and at large, outdoor events with 500 or more attendees. In addition, the Governor's Proclamation 20-25.7 amending Proclamation 20-05 and 20-25, et seq. requires face coverings/masks to be worn at outdoor events and gatherings attended by 500 or more people.

WHEREAS, given the substantial increase of community transmission of COVID-19, the spread of COVID-19 attributable to large outdoor events, and the Secretary of Health's issuance of an amended face covering order requiring face coverings to be worn at outdoor events and gatherings attended by 500 or more people, it is necessary to amend Proclamation 20-05, et. seq. to incorporate the Secretary of Health's outdoor face covering requirements;

OUTSIDE:

With the new, expanded mask mandate now in effect, this is a reminder that masks are required at any event with 500 or more attendees.

To calculate the 500, schools should include fans, event staff, bands and anyone else who may occupy seating areas. Coaches, players, officials and other personnel on the field, along with cheer/dance/drill squads on the sidelines are not counted.

INSIDE:

There are some exceptions to the mask requirement, including:

  • Athletes who play indoor sports and who are actively engaged in competition or practice (masks are still required on sidelines and in team meetings)
  • Children under five years of age. However, children age two to four years old can wear a mask under close adult supervision.

Pullman Public Schools requests that you adhere to these guidelines so extracurricular activities can continue. Our community has worked hard over the last 18 months to get sports and activities back up and running and we need to do everything we can to make sure these opportunities continue to be available for students.
