Grades K-1 may check out one (1) book for one (1) week from the 'Everybody' section. However, flexibility based on student’s reading ability needs to go through their classroom teacher.
Grades 2-5 may check out two (2) books for one (1) week from all sections of the school library.
Grades 6-12 may have a total of five (5) materials checked out at a time.
Please have a special place set aside in your home for student(s) to safely store and read their school library books. This should be in a safe environment away from food, liquids, pets, and other children.
Please have student carry their school library books to and from school in a dry backpack in a compartment that will remain safe from food and liquids.
Students in grades K-5 will need to return books each week on or before the day of their scheduled library lesson. Each classroom has a special place for the returned school library books to be stored until they are brought to the library on or before the day they are due.
There is no limit to renewing a book, unless other students have requested it. However, it does need to be brought to school to be renewed in order for the book not to be considered “overdue”.
If a book is damaged, the library staff will make every effort to fix the damage if possible. However, if the item is not able to be returned to the library collection for any reason, a fine will be assessed for the damaged book and a letter/email will be sent home to the parent/guardian requesting the fine be paid or the item be replaced.
See replacement book information below if that is the desired method of paying for a damaged book. Once the damaged item is paid for or replaced, the damaged book will be offered to the student if requested.
A book that is purchased to replace a lost or damaged book should be a new or gently used copy of the same title in the same format as the book that was lost. However, if a lost book that was replaced is later found, the book that was purchased as the replacement will be returned to the student if requested.
