Jerrod Fleury Selected as Pullman High School Principal
The Pullman School District is pleased to announce that Jerrod Fleury has been recommended for hire as the next Principal of Pullman High School, starting July 1, 2025. Mr. Fleury is currently serving as an Administrator and Athletic Director at Central Kitsap High School and was selected after an extensive and thorough selection process. The recommendation for Mr. Fleury's appointment will be presented to the Pullman School District Board of Directors at their meeting on March 12, 2025.
The district received a strong pool of applicants, and Mr. Fleury stood out among two highly qualified finalists. The comprehensive interview process, conducted on February 28, 2025, included a formal interview and presentation, a written exercise, observation of a lesson with written feedback, and open forums for staff and community members. Mr. Fleury consistently demonstrated his leadership capabilities, vision, and dedication to student success.
The interview committee included district and building administrators, a member of the Board of Directors (Director Nathan Roberts), the Assistant Director of Special Services, five Pullman High School staff members, and a Pullman High School parent selected through a lottery process. The open forums provided staff and community members the opportunity to engage with each candidate, ask questions, and provide valuable feedback.
One staff member noted, "[Mr. Fleury] has the right experience, is knowledgeable, and confident. He will be able to communicate a vision and move our school forward." Another staff member highlighted his strengths, sharing that he "seem[ed] to have a vision, high school experience, support of extracurriculars, and acknowledgement of the importance for kids to have a sense of belonging." A parent added, "He mentioned his core values of Love, Lead, Grow…and how to put them in action in the classroom, school, and across the district."
Mr. Fleury brings with him 9 years of secondary teaching experience and 11 years of educational administration expertise. His administrative roles have included Associate Principal and Athletic Director at Oak Harbor High School, along with his current position at Central Kitsap High School. He holds a Master's degree in School Administration from Pacific Lutheran University.
Superintendent Dr. Bob Maxwell expressed confidence in the selection, stating, "We are excited to welcome Mr. Fleury to Pullman High School. His passion for student achievement, dedication to fostering a positive school culture, and commitment to equity and inclusion will be valuable assets to our school community. His experience, coupled with his knowledge of athletics and extracurriculars, will help strengthen the connection between academics and student involvement.”
We look forward to welcoming Mr. Fleury at Pullman High School!
