The Pullman School District is pleased to announce that Cheyenne Webber has been recommended for hire as the next Principal of Kamiak Elementary School, starting July 1, 2025. Ms. Webber currently serves in our district as the Assistant Principal for both Jefferson and Kamiak Elementary Schools and was selected following an extensive and thorough selection process. The recommendation for Ms. Webber's appointment will be presented to the Pullman School District Board of Directors at their meeting on June 11, 2025. We are pleased with the strong applicant pool that was interviewed and are confident that we have recommended an excellent administrator for Kamiak Elementary.

The district received a strong pool of applicants, and Ms. Webber stood out among the highly qualified finalists. The selection process, held on June 5, 2025, included a formal interview and presentation, a written exercise, an observation of a lesson with feedback, a student-led school tour, and open forums for staff, families and community members. Throughout each phase, Ms. Webber demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, a clear vision for student success, and a deep dedication to building an inclusive, student-centered learning environment.

The interview committee included district and building administrators, a member of the Board of Directors, school staff members, and elementary parents selected through a lottery process. The open forums provided staff and community members the opportunity to engage with each candidate, ask questions, and provide valuable feedback.

One staff member noted Ms. Webber is, "kind, listens to staff concerns, builds relationships with students, is always positive and works to build community." Many staff and families highlighted her deep familiarity with the Kamiak community and her experience working in three of the four elementary schools in the Pullman School District as a key strength. A community member shared that Ms. Webber is a, "great communicator, knowledgeable of the community and seems eager to implement productive goals."

Ms. Webber brings a wealth of teaching experience, previously serving as classroom teacher at Kamiak Elementary and in the Puyallup School District, along with educational administration expertise with previous experience serving as an Assistant Principal in various elementary schools in Pullman School District. Ms. Webber holds a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Washington State University.

Superintendent Dr. Bob Maxwell expressed confidence in the selection, stating, "We are excited for Ms. Webber to continue her leadership at Kamiak Elementary. Her experience, deep connection to our community, and student-centered leadership make her the right person to lead Kamiak into its next chapter.”
