Polish American Heritage Month

Polish American Heritage Month, observed in October, celebrates the positive impact of Polish Americans on the United States and honors Polish history and culture. Initially celebrated in August, it now commemorates the arrival of the first Polish settlers in Jamestown, VA, in October 1608, and the death of Casimir Pulaski, the father of American cavalry. Established by the Polish American Cultural Center in Philadelphia in 1981, it is now nationally recognized.
