Chromebook Protection Plan

Students and parents are responsible for the Chromebook that is issued to them, just as they are for other district-loaned items such as textbooks, calculators, cameras, athletic equipment, or library books. The CPP provides families some financial protection if the Chromebook needs to be repaired or replaced.

The annual Chromebook Protection Plan (CPP) can provide some peace of mind if something should happen accidentally to the Chromebook. Enrollment in the CPP program is option. The CPP cost is $10 (non-refundable) per year, per student that covers the first and second accidental damage. Keep in mind that damage caused by willful destruction is not covered by the CPP.

Chromebook Protection Plan Information

  • A Chromebook Protection Plan (CPP) can be purchased for students in grades 6th-12th. The CPP cost is $10 (non-refundable) per student, per year. You can purchase the CPP and complete the Chromebook Protection Plan Agreement Form during Lincoln Middle School’s Spartan Startup or Pullman High School’s Greyhound Gearup at the start of each school year. You can also print the Chromebook Protection Plan Agreement Form and mail/deliver it to the school’s main office, pick up a form at the school’s office, or make a payment online to enroll in the optional Chromebook Protection Plan.

    If you do not want to be responsible for the Chromebook, please discuss this desire with your school's Principal.

  • Quick Facts abou the CPP

    • The cost of each CPP is $10 (ten dollars)
    • A CPP is good for ONE YEAR and terminates July 31st of each year. It does NOT carry over.
    • A CPP can be purchased starting August 1 of each year
    • A CPP is only needed for students in grades 6-12. Elementary grade students do not need a CPP.
    • One CPP per child. If you have two or more secondary students, you will need one for each student that has a chromebook issued to them. Only one CPP can be purchased per year per student
    • If you have two CPP’s in your family, parents/guardians can use both on one child if they wish. 
    • Each CPP is consumed at the following rate:
      • The first incident is 100% covered (***including non-repairable damage)
      • The second incident is 50% covered (***including non-repairable damage)
      • Any further breakasge/damage during the school year is not covered.
    • ***The CPP does not cover lost items (Power supplies or whole Chromebooks)

    • Lost devices (entire Chromebook or charger) is NOT covered by the CPP will incur replacement charges (see cost chart below). 
    • Stolen Chromebooks must be reported to the Police. To avoid replacement charges, a copy of the police report is required when reporting a stolen Chromebook to the school.

  • The total replacement cost of a district issued Chromebook provided to students can cost up to $300. Participation in the CPP can reduce liability for the student and their family if the Chromebook needs to be repaired. Keep in mind that damage caused by willful destruction is not covered by the CPP.

    The CPP does not cover the following:

    • Lost Chromebooks
    • Stolen Chromebooks without a police report.
    • Damages due to willful destruction/vandalism.
    • Missing/damaged chargers are not covered by CPP.
    • Families who leave the district during the school year but fail to return the Chromebook, will be responsible for paying the full replacement cost for the Chromebook in accordance with Pullman School Board Policy 3520 Student Fees, Fines, or Charges.

    “A student will be responsible for the cost of replacing materials or property which are lost or damaged due to negligence. A student’s diploma may be withheld until restituion is made by payment or the equivalency through community service”
