Pullman Public Schools Prioritizes Green Efforts with District Sustainability Committee!
Did you know? Pullman Public Schools has a dedicated sustainability committee! The team was established in spring of 2019 and has committee members from each school, the district office, a board member, and a PHS student representative.
In one short year, the team has developed a committee mission, a district policy related to sustainability, and led multiple districtwide efforts towards sustainability.
Major committee work in 2019-2020 includes:
- Recommendation and oversight of a district energy audit
- Application to OSPI Green Ribbon Schools
- Creation, leading to board adoption, of a district sustainability policy
- Implementation of a districtwide green cleaning plan
The committee continues to meet virtually during the current school closure and is in the process of creating clear, measurable goals related to both energy reduction and behavior modifications efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of Pullman Public Schools.
